The "Spirited" child
We have learned this week in the book, The Baby Whisperer, recommended by my friends, Nick, Liz and Stella, that Hudson falls into the baby personality of "spirited" - always alert, verbal (day and night in his sleep), very curious, a fiesty eater (which explains his constant gas issue), and a catnapper who is too afraid to miss out on anything. Since we get this look, followed by a smile, when we lay him in his crib for naptime, we have learned to remove ALL objects of color or suddenly his tired eyes turn into these and he grins and kicks when he sees his animal friends on his mobile!
The smile is pretty unresistable though and often makes us laugh no matter how hard we try not to!Tuesday, June 19, 2007
Fun in the sun

We have been hanging outside a lot this week. Hudson LOVES being outside talking to the trees and trying to eat the grass - he must be learning that from the dogs. He is getting good already at getting everything in his mouth. We are wondering if a tooth is going to peek through soon since he is drooling so much and chewing on everything. He is a pretty happy guy these days talking all of the time! He is getting his crying down when he wants something too - he starts fussing and as soon as we come over he grins and kicks his feet!Trip to Columbia, MO
This past week, Hudson and I went to Columbia, MO for to meet my sister Samantha and mom for her orientation to MU! It was fun to be back in Columbia - it is hard to believe how much has changed since I graduated. The new Rec Center is amazing with an outdoor pool, spa and huge hot tubs and a HUGE workout facility. Maybe I would have actually worked out in college if that existed then! We went to Flatbranch, one of my favorite places to eat, for dinner.
Hudson did GREAT in the car - sleeping both ways which made for a very pleasant trip!
Sam with her friends, Danny and Liz, who will also be attending MU. We attended the Summer Welcome revue in the evening in Jesse Auditorium and Hudson enjoyed watching the skits that the leaders put on. We didn't hear a peep out of him, until right in between the skits, he let out a huge sneeze and had many people cracking up. I was just thankful it wasn't one of his large belches or toots, which he has been known to do.Tuesday, June 12, 2007
3 months old!!!
We cannot believe that Hudson is three months old! This past weekend, I worked to cover the hospital while much of my department was at the National Conference. It was hard to be away from him but nice to know that Nana and John were home taking care of him. I think by the end of the weekend, everyone was tired!Tuesday, June 5, 2007

The first road trip to St Louis
This past week, we took our first road trip to St Louis for my sister, Samantha's high school graduation. Hard to believe as I attend my 10 year reunion this year, my sister is graduating!!! We had a great week visiting with the family including my aunt Sis and my cousins Allison and Marlena from Florida. Hudson also got to meet my brother, Uncle Evan and his girlfriend Lyndi for the for first time.
While in St Louis, we also got to meet baby Alejandro! He is the son of one of my best friends from high school, Mark, and his wife Yanela. Here they are with hats my mom made for him. Hopefully Alejandro will be a better fan of it this winter.....Memorial Day weekend with the Walter's
We had some more visitors over Memorial Day to Kansas City. John's brother, Pete, his wife Jane and three children - Trey, Ethan and Whitney came to visit us. We had fun shopping and hanging out with them. Unfortunatly, their car broke down while they were here and they had to get a rental car to get back to Colorado. But the good news is that the car got fixed and we will get it back to them sometime this summer.
