One week old!

Jack turns one week old tonight! We have had a great first week at home. He is eating and sleeping well....we are hoping this lasts!

Tanner seems to be a fan and is enjoying the stage where Jack cannot hide her tennis ball or chase her around the house with any toys.

John and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary on Sunday with to go from Cheesecake Factory! Here Hudson is stealing Nana's red velvet cheesecake...can you blame him?

Jack's first bath (sponge bath that is!)

Jack got his first bath on Tuesday and Hudson loved helping! Hudson is quite a "helper" with Jack and has parked a chair right up next to his changing table so he can help with every diaper change. He loves to comment on the color of Jack's poo. Hudson also has the cleanest belly button around with all of the alcohol wipes he has been using! This is the first time Hudson has asked to hold "baby Jack" and he did a pretty good job! He loves it when baby Jack holds his fingers and he also loves to count Jack's fingers to make sure all ten are still there.

On Sunday, Hudson helped Nana and Daddy pick up many, many leaves that had fallen in the back yard. Who would have thought leafblowing would be so entertaining for a two year old. Hudson LOVED running in front of the leafblower at the leaves flying in the air. He then packed his grocery bag and threw them down the slide to fall into them at the end. Smashing them into the bag

Jack Charles his finally here and was worth the wait:). He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long (very similar to Hudson's size). I went in on Thursday for a routine nonstress test 3-5 days past my due date. Jack didn't pass his nonstress test though due to his heartrate decelerating instead of accelerating during movement. After an ultrasound and more monitoring at the hospital, my dr decided it could be a cord issue and decided to keep me there for monitoring with an induction scheduled for evening. I started having some mild contractions (stress???) later that afternoon, then at 7pm they started a slow dose of pitocin. My dr broke my water around 8:30pm and then he was born at 11:15 pm with the cord wrapped around his neck but it wasn't tight so the doctor was able to move it. Besides some congestion from coming out too fast, he is doing great! He has some similar features to Hudson but he has much less hair! He is very sweet and is adjusting well to his new family.

Nana has been here for a week and we are so thankful. She has been Hudson's entertainer, our cook and housecleaner and everything else in between. It was so nice to be at the hospital (a little unplanned) and know Hudson was taken care of despite Hudson having a fever (thankfully short lasting) the day I was in labor!

Hudson came to the hospital with different colored noodle necklaces for everyone and with his "Wheels on the Bus" dvd to show his little brother. Hudson was a little unsure what to do at first (completely turned his head away) but slowly warmed up and was very sweet with him. The video is priceless. (Some little fingers must have turned the switch on the camera to black and white!)

The hospital photogragher was a quack so we attempted to take a few of his own. Of course I was expecting a 10 lb baby so he is swimming in his outfit. With Hudson I took clothes that were too small. Maybe by the third (if there is a third) I will have it figured out:)

Special treats!!!

As you can see here, the only thing we have to put in the baby swing right now is Woody! Apparently this baby is already like his brother and wanting to stay in past his due date. We are enjoying the time we have with just Hudson though and we are so happy to have Nana here! She's been helping out a ton and Hudson is just thrilled she is here.

Halloween was a huge hit at our house this year. Woody Walter (as he calls himself) had a great time trick or treating. It didn't take him long before we was running up to the next house yelling "Special Treat" instead of "trick-or-treat", picking out some candy, and then offering a big THHAAANKKK YOU as he ran in his cowboy boots to the next house.

Hudson had a great time playing at his friend Clayton's house. Instead of playing with the many toys in his room the boys' had more fun playing with a bunch of clothes and diapers they pulled out of Clayton's changing table. Clayton wore one like a hat and Hudson loved trying to put them on an elmo doll. Where do boys learn to wrestle? They were cracking each other up.

This was at Hudson's first movie experience - Toy Story in 3D. Despite us getting there for a 10am show that didn't start till noon, he did really well. He was so excited when the big Buzz Lightyear appeared he literally jumped up and down screaming "Buzz Lightyear". He also has many of the lines memorized so we occupied him with popcorn (which he had never had) to keep his mouth quiet....this worked for most of the movie.

A few weeks ago we were offered some tickets from John's previous law firm to see an NBA exhibition game at the Sprint Center. Hudson had a blast and we ended up staying nearly the whole time. Although if you ask him about the game, he will mention the Miami Heat mascot that looked more like an orange Sesame Street character and also the yummy cookies that were in the suite! There was another boy there that he had a great time playing Batman and Woody with - who knew that Batman and Woody could be such good friends!

Over the past month or so, Hudson has really started alot more pretend play and loves taking care of his baby doll (or Buzz, Woody or Fozzie bear dolls)....reading books, rocking him, covering him in blankets and changing diapers. He loves to play with it in the new baby's crib and somehow manages to get in and out of that crib by himself which should make things really interesting when the "real" baby is in there. Although sometimes this gentle, nurturing play turns into Hudson throwing the baby into the air or trying to get it to ride Tanner (the dog)....at least it starts out well!

We have been having lots of fun around here with Hudson before life changes for a bit when this new baby is born. Hudson is very excited about this baby that he has named "Mack Walter" from the movie Cars. We are happy he chose Mack instead of Mater but still have not decided on a name which seems to be bothering our family and friends way more than us:).

Hudson has been a lot of fun lately though and continues to amaze us. It seems like overnight he has learned to count into the teens, say most of the ABC's and write and spell his name. He still loves music and loves to sing and dance around to tunes like Hakuna Matata on the I-Pod (which he has pretty much stolen from his dad).

His little brother is due this weekend and we are anxiously awaiting his arrival. Although we aren't expecting him to be on time as Hudson was a week late but we certainly hope he will come sooner than later!
