Max and Jack visit the fire station

Our friends Emily and Max had a visit to the fire station and were so nice to let us tag along. Max is obsessed with firetrucks and firemen and loved the visit.

Midwest Balloon Festival

We attended our first balloon festival and despite crazy crowds and very few balloons flying, the boys had lots of fun playing in the bounce houses and enjoying junk food!

A trip to the zoo

August 2012

August was a fun month for us as we enjoyed the last few weeks of summer and eased into the school year. Kindergarten is going really well for Hudson although he is disappointed he didn't learn how to read in the first week as I think he thought he would:). He comes home each day so excited about things that have happened at school and has made some new friends already.

Jack met his teacher this week and starts Mother's Day Out next week. He was not happy he didn't get to stay by himself when he met his teacher although he became a little shy in the class. I think (and hope) he is going to love it too!

Hudson got his very own library card and was so excited!

The long awaited new Disney shirts from Aunt Sam. He called her quite often to see when she mailed them.

A picnic in our front yard:)

Although he misses Hudson at school in the mornings, Jack is enjoying time with just mommy.

Hudson is obsessed with Berenstain Bear books and was so excited to get one with his kid's meal at Chick Fil A. Of course now he has a list going of the ones they have and the ones he has!

Jack has discovered gum and he loves it.

The boys packed bookbags to go to Nana's for a few hours. They LOVE going to her house!

Iowa State Fair

We took a very last minute and quick trip up to Des Moines with Nana for the Iowa State Fair and had a great time. What a perfect way to end the summer before school starts next week.

We started the night out with cheese dip from a mexican restaurant across the hotel.

After dinner we checked out the hotel pool and they had so much fun swimming with Nana.

Rooms with two beds were sold out so we camped out in a king size bed! Hudson ate some grapes before bed and Jack ate my favorite dark chocolate almonds that Nana brought me and called them "Nana's new grapes!". Guess I will have to start sharing those amazing things.

Jack rode his first horse and Nana didn't mind helping him at all!

Feeding animals at the petting zoo. Jack and Nana were in love with the animals. Hudson and I mostly watched:).
We met Clifford and Jack gave him a huge hug.

Jack loved all of the animals.

Hudson saw this wall storage unit that would hold cars and thought it was pretty cool and wanted me to take a picture of it so Daddy could make one. Ha.

Petting a brand new baby cow.

Being little helpers on the farm in the children's area where they could pretend they were farmers. They got rewarded at the end and thought it was pretty cool to buy an orange drink at the end with the money they had "earned" on the farm.

Jack fell asleep in the stroller in the afternoon and Hudson and I got to ride some rides. He had waited all day to do the rides. Such a fun trip!
