Today is Hudson's real birthday! Boy has it been fun to celebrate for a week (thanks to the March Madness schedule!) and we still have tickets to Disney on Ice coming up next weekend. It is hard to believe he is three already but he certainly is a delight. He loves music and most often bounces around the house singing a tune. He has turned into a very sensitive little boy and is often heard saying "I sorry" along with a gentle little pat a few minutes after a tantrum or if is told no to something. He also loves to say (or should I say yell) "I WUV you" to baby Jack or when he ends a phone conversation. He is a great big brother and so sweet to baby Jack. He loves to come up to him and say "Hi, Lil' buddy" and is the first to comfort him if he makes a little peep. He is also very protective when other children try to touch him. It is already beginning!
He also has picked up a phrase "Mommy, don't eat it all, OK?". Really? Do I ever eat his food that has been sneezed on, touched by his often messy hands???? You would think so (ok maybe leftover ice cream)! I think he got such a reaction after he first said it when John and I cracked up though that now it is a common phrase. Awesome. I also make him come out of the same door as I get Jack out of in the car and he likes to say "I am coming mommy. Don't close the door, ok??" as if I am going to slam the door on him. He sure makes us laugh every day. We are now to the point though that just sometimes we get a little nervous about what random statement he will tell random people in public.
This week we had our first urgent care visit for Hudson (not bad for three years, right?). After his Buzz and Woody birthday bash, we had dinner at our new favorite Mexican place. When Hudson was getting down off the booth, he fell back and hit his head pretty hard in the corner of a wall. We thought he was fine till he woke up at midnight telling us he needed his "buzz and woody" ice pack and that his head hurt. He would only fall back asleep for short periods of time before waking up crying again. Finally at 3am, I leave John and Jack at home and we take him to the ER. We were fortunate to get in right away and also to see one of my favorite doctors I used to work with downtown. While I am telling her the story, she has already peaked in his ear and found an ear infection! Needless to say, that was the most excited we had been for him to have an ear infection! Hudson thought he was great fun to visit the doctor and when we left at 4am he wanted to go to the store and get a Fozzie and Kermit shirt like the RN had. Geesh......
This week we also had the boys' in for their checkups. Hudson had a shot and I was a little unsure how he would react since it had been so long. He was so preoccupied seeing what kind of bandaid the RN had that he didn't even react. Poor Jack got a few shots too but did just great. Here are their stats (for the grandparents:)).
Hudson - 3 years
height - 38 3/4 inches (80th percentile)
weight - 35 lbs (80th percentile)
Jack - 4 months
height - 26 inches (80th percentile)
weight - 17 lbs 15 oz (90th percentile....oh my gosh)
Jack has found his toes! I know at this age Hudson was eating them but I think there is a little too much fluff in between to get them there! Jack is so big we have to put diaper cream in his neck because he gets a rash there.
