the Fourth in Omaha, Day 1!

We had a great trip to Omaha to celebrate the Fourth with John's sister and her family from Colorado. We started out at the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was a great zoo and Hudson was excited to see all of his friends from the Disney movies Madagascar and Lion King and would refer to the appropriate character name for each animal. I don't know how he remember names from movies he has only seen a few times.

John was very excited to try a fried taco at California Taco's straight from Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dive's". I believe this place fell into the "Dive's" category and I have to admit being a little nervous taking two little ones in the place, but the taco was well worth it.

Jack thought sleeping through the hot day was a better option.

After the zoo, we headed to dinner at Spaghetti Works in Old Market.

Hudson I believe doing a Buzz Lightyear impersonation.

A "gentle" squeeze. It won't be too much longer before Jack can tackle him back.

The boys waking up Daddy at 7am despite going to bed late. How come going to bed later, doesn't make kids sleep in later?

Hudson's first sleepover buddy

Hudson loves Nana's dog Sparky and now asks Nana if he can "borrow" him so here we are with his new BFF spending the night. When Nana showed up with Sparky the other day, Hudson ran over and said "hold on I gotta see him!" and greeted him a big hug. Later I even heard him say he loved him. Maybe he loves him so much because his fur resembles Woody's vest? Despite Sparky being drug around the house, pulled by a leash with a running toddler on the other end, or chased around with a flying Buzz Lightyear toy, I think Sparky has taken a liking to Hudson too. Hudson has introduced him to all of the new and old characters in the Toy Story movies and here he is reading a book to him. I asked him to come upstairs this afternoon and he told me he was busy because Sparky was sleeping and he couldn't wake him up. They are both pretty sweet buds.

Jack's new tricks

Don't let this picture fool you. Although Jack is sitting in a high chair with a bib on, he still prefers sucking on a wet washcloth or chewing on Hudson's shoes and dog bones but we still keep attempting! His record so far is about an ounce of carrots which seem to be his favorite food. He did eat part of a Mum-Mum (rice cracker for babies) with only gagging two times so we are heading the right direction. We are happy his clothes are staying fairly clean though!

We attempted to give him his first dose of Tylenol the other night for his upper teeth coming in and you would have thought we were giving him lemon juice. This is a little different from his brother who would get so excited to see anything come near his mouth and I think was eating Chipotle at his age!

Despite the lack of interest in food, we are pretty sure he is still doing just fine on the growth chart.
He has started creeping which looks more like him attempting to do the worm followed by a huge lunge, or face plant into the ground to get a toy. He does it in faster motion if one of Hudson's toys are nearby. He can get his whole body up off the ground for a few seconds but not very long.

He has also started giving kisses which is super cute. You say "awwww" and he opens his mouth to plant a big slobbery kiss. So sweet.

His other new trick is starting to pull up. We had to drop his crib the other day. When we lay him in his crib to sleep he loves to climb over to the rail to peek over the bumper. He thinks it is hilarious when he sees you on the other side.

He is getting tons of new hair! It seems a bit wavy so we are wondering if he will have curls like Hudson did. He may not be as good of an eater than his big brother, but this kid sure loves his sleep more than Hudson did. The other day he fell asleep in the car, stayed asleep when I moved him from car seat to crib. After an hour, he stayed asleep when I moved him back into the car to get Hudson from school, and slept until Hudson got in the car!

One fish, Two fish....

It has been a hot week here but we are happy the rain is gone! We have been enjoying the neighborhood pool. Jack has been loving Hudson's crab floater.

Jack was more interested in sucking on the crab and would get so mad when we would lift him up!

A post for Daddy....

I tried to get a picture for Daddy in the boys' new Yankees shirts but in all of the attempted shots you can't even see the emblem! Nonetheless here are some cute faces....

Woody is back!

Hudson discovered his Woody Halloween costume from last year and has been sporting it all week long. These pictures were not taken just one day but over several. Despite the HOT weather this week and the outfit about 2 sizes too small, he has been wearing it at least once a day. In fact, he even fell asleep in it the other night. He already has been talking about asking Nana to make Buzz.
